La Parade du Pont-au-Diable was first performed by Henri Gheon's own company, Les Compagnons de Notre Dame, at the theatre du Vieux-Colombier, Paris in February 1925. Sir Barry Jackson's translation was in the repertoire of the Arts League of Service who played it all over the country. It was first given at the Birmingham Repetory Theatre on September 20th 1930
The play follows the Devil's attempts to corrupt the good Father Kado, a kindly hermit who offers his wisdom to the inhabitants of a small French fishing village.
